GoodMood: discover Breda & meet new friends

New to Breda? Or have you been studying here for a while and want to get more out of the city?

During GoodMood, you'll discover Breda together with other students. From 5–9 October 2026, the city comes alive with fun activities, new connections and memorable experiences. It's a week where you can easily meet new people, explore unique places and maybe even discover a new favourite hobby. Join creative workshops, sports challenges, shared dinners, cultural activities, games and other social events across the city. Activities are small-scale and welcoming, making it easy to join in — even if you come on your own. 

Whether you've just started your studies, are an international student, want to expand your social circle or simply feel like trying something new, GoodMood is open to all vocational (mbo) and higher education (hbo) students in Breda.

Because student life is about more than classes and deadlines. It's also about new experiences, great memories and feeling at home in the city where you study.

Most activities are free, while some require a small participation fee. You decide which activities you'd like to join.

Maandag 5 oktober

DRAW Club Breda

19:30 – 22:00 uur · Makersbase, Molenstraat 6, Breda

Draw Club Breda is opgericht door vier studenten van de kunstacademie St. Joost met het doel een gezellige community te creëren waar we elkaar kunnen inspireren en van elkaar kunnen leren. Het enige wat je nodig hebt is wat tekenspullen en je leuke zelf!

Draw Club Breda was founded by four students from the St. Joost art academy with the aim of creating a friendly community where we can inspire and learn from each other. All you need is some art supplies and your cute self!

Klassiek ballet – gevorderd / Classical ballet – advanced

Heb je ervaring met klassiek ballet, dan ben je welkom om een keer mee te doen met onze gevorderde groep. Onze ervaren dansdocent zorgt dat je je comfortabel voelt en geeft je tips om je verder te ontwikkelen. Doe mee en ervaar de vreugde van klassiek ballet in een stimulerende omgeving!

Are you an experienced classical ballet dancer? Join the advanced group this evening. Our experienced dance instructor makes sure you feel comfortable and encourages you to further improve your technique. Join us and experience the joy of classical ballet in an inspiring setting!

Dungeons & Dragons – Dice and Adventures

19:30 – 22:00 uur · Makersbase, Molenstraat 6, Breda

Altijd al willen weten hoe je Dungeons & Dragons moet spelen? Dan is dit je kans! Speel als je favoriete character, ga samen de strijd aan tegen dodelijke vijanden, ontdek geheimen, vind schatten en maak samen mooie herinneringen. Dit spel zal in Dunglish gespeeld worden. Voor een hapje en een drankje wordt gezorgd! Dice and Adventures speelt elke week verschillende roleplaying games in Nieuwe Veste, zoals Dungeons and Dragons.

Always wanted to know how to play Dungeons & Dragons? Then this is for you! Play as your favourite character, battle deadly foes together, uncover secrets, find treasure, and make memories that last a lifetime. This game will be played in Dunglish. Snacks are provided! You will find Dice and Adventures every week at Nieuwe Veste, where they play different kinds of roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons.

Silent Book Club

Stel je voor, je nestelt je elke dinsdagavond met je boek in een gezellige hoek in de bibliotheek. Omringd door anderen die net zo dol zijn op lezen als jij. Geen gewone boekenclub, je gaat gewoon lekker zelf lezen. Geen luide discussies, analyses of huiswerk. Alleen jij, je boek en het rustige gezelschap van anderen die ook lezen.

Imagine settling in every Tuesday evening with your book in a cozy corner of the library. Surrounded by others who love reading as much as you do. Not a typical book club; you simply read at your own pace. No loud discussions, analyses, or homework. Just you, your book, and the quiet company of others who are also reading.

Manga community

Voel jij je aangetrokken tot manga en alles wat daarmee samenhangt? Kom naar de Manga community avond en ontmoet andere manga fans. Of je nu boeken wilt ruilen, teksten bespreken of je verzameling wilt laten zien, je laat je in ieder geval uitdagen tijdens de populaire Manga-pubquiz!

Are you drawn to manga and everything associated with it? Come to the Manga community night and meet other manga fans. Whether you want to swap books, discuss stories, or show off your collection, you will certainly be challenged during the popular Manga pub quiz!

Woensdag 7 oktober

Craft Community @Makersbase

19:00 – 22:00 uur · Makersbase, Molenstraat 6, Breda

Elke woensdagavond kun je in de Makersbase terecht om je craftskills te ontwikkelen. Samen met andere ‘crafters’ werk je aan je eigen project. Je hoeft het niet alleen te doen, er is een makerscoach aanwezig die je kan helpen als je vastloopt of tips kan geven om een techniek beter onder de knie te krijgen, en je leert van elkaar. Van macramé tot haken, van borduren tot creatieve hersenspinsels, laser- of vinylsnijders, 3D-printers en natuurlijk... met je handen! Apparatuur en wat materialen zijn aanwezig, maar neem gerust ook je eigen spullen mee.

Every Wednesday evening you can visit Makersbase to develop your craft skills. Together with other crafters you work on your own project. You do not have to do it alone; there is a makers coach available who can help you if you get stuck or offer tips to master a technique, and you learn from one another. From macramé to crochet, from embroidery to creative ideas, laser or vinyl cutters, 3D printers, and of course… with your hands! Equipment and some materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies as well.

Workshop Illustreren / Illustration

20:00 – 22:00 uur · Nieuwe Veste, Molenstraat 6, Breda

Vind je het ook zo leuk om een verhaal te vertellen met beeld? Oefen door lekker vrij te schetsen, een concept te bedenken en verschillende technieken uit te proberen. Dat kan op papier of digitaal, wat je wil.

Do you love telling stories through images? Practice by sketching freely, coming up with a concept, and trying out different techniques. You can do this on paper or digitally, whatever you prefer.

Waacking Dance class

19:00 – 20:30 uur · De Stokvishallen, Belcrumweg 58, Breda

Waacking dans komt voort uit de punk muziekstijl van de LGBT-clubs in Los Angeles, met invloeden uit de jazz, diverse vechtsporten en gymnastiek. De combinatie van persoonlijkheid, feminiene en masculiene energie zorgt voor een eigen, individuele stijl. Gooi je remmen los en WAACK!

Waacking dance originated in the punk music scene of Los Angeles LGBT clubs, influenced by jazz, martial arts and gymnastics. The combination of personality with feminine and masculine energy creates a unique, individual style. Let go of your inhibitions and WAACK!

Donderdag 8 oktober

Tech Community @Makersbase

19:00 – 22:00 uur · Makersbase, Molenstraat 6, Breda

Wil je jouw skills verbeteren in programmeren, elektronica, 3D ontwerpen en printen, lasersnijden of Arduino? Elke donderdagavond gaat een enthousiaste club aan de slag met verschillende technieken of challenges, waarbij experimenteren centraal staat. Vanavond gaan we aan de slag met 3D-printen. We leggen uit wat je ermee kan, hoe het werkt en je gaat zelf aan de slag. Machines en gereedschappen staan voor je klaar!

Would you like to improve your skills in programming, electronics, 3D design and printing, laser cutting, or Arduino? Every Thursday evening an enthusiastic group gets to work with various techniques or challenges, with experimentation at the core. Tonight we will be working with 3D printing. We will explain what you can do with it, how it works, and you will get hands-on. Machines and tools are ready for you!

Art Journal

19:30 – 21:00 uur · Nieuwe Veste, Molenstraat 6, Breda

In deze workshop ga je met verf, inkt, pennen of collage aan de slag in snelle opdrachten. We onderzoeken hoe je pagina’s opbouwt, hoe beeld en tekst elkaar kunnen versterken en hoe je een leeg blad kunt gebruiken als speelruimte voor je eigen ideeën. Met voorbeelden uit art journals van diverse makers, zodat je ziet hoeveel verschillende manieren er zijn om je eigen art journal te maken. Iedere deelnemer ontwikkelt zo een eigen, unieke en persoonlijke manier van werken.

In this workshop, you will work with paint, ink, pens, or collage through a series of quick exercises. We will explore how to build up pages, how image and text can reinforce each other, and how to use a blank sheet as a playground for your own ideas. We will look at examples from the art journals of various creators, showing you the many different ways to create your own art journal. In this way, each participant develops their own unique and personal approach.
